Twelve upper secondary schools, and more than 400 pupils from all over Norway participate in the Holberg Prize School Project each year. The pupils are assisted by university scholars and the projects undertaken by the pupils are integrated into their regular curricula.
Three projects are awarded prizes of respectively NOK 15 000, NOK 10 000 and NOK 5 000. A teacher prize of NOK 15 000 is also awarded for the best educational program, as part of the Holberg Prize School Project. The Prizes are presented by the 2016 Holberg Laureate, Stephen Greenblatt and Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, Minister of Education and Research.
